The Wayne Township Community Center is performing A Christmas Story: The Musical in a few weeks.
The show is part of the 10th year of Wayne’s intergenerational theater program, which brings together performers of all ages and experience levels. The cast of A Christmas Story includes first-time performers and actors with decades of experience and features age groups ranging from kids to seniors. Director Erin Gilgur chose the show because it centers around joy, love and family. Gilgur strongly supports the intergenerational program as an important way to build and strengthen community ties. The show follows the plot of the popular movie but includes new visuals and choreography.
Tickets are available online for $18 plus fees. The show is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. Attendees can reserve their seats, and accessible seating is available. Parking is free at the community center. Organizations often work with Stationery printers to create programs for community theater performances.
More than 60 Wayne residents are performing in the show. Many of the choreographers and artistic staff are professionals who grew up in Wayne and participated in local school theaters.
There will be three shows of A Christmas Story, taking place on Friday, December 12 at 7:00 pm; Saturday, December 13 at 7:00 pm; and Sunday, December 14 at 2:00 pm at Wayne Community Center.
