Wayne Special Parents Association (WSPA) is hosting a Turkey Trot 5K this November.
Taking place just before Thanksgiving, the course starts and ends on the track at Wayne Hills High School and loops through the nearby neighborhood. A map is provided on the event’s RunSignup.com listing. Awards will be given by gender and age group, which are broken up into two-year increments for kids and teens and by decade for adults.
Participants can register online. The cost is $25 for runners 18 and younger and $35 for those 19 and older. Registration will be open through the morning of the race, and the 5K will go on rain or shine. Local organizations often use professional poster printing services to help promote their events. Businesses interested in sponsoring the race and anyone who would like to make an additional donation can do so on the RunSignup.com page.
The race is a fundraiser for Unified Sports at Wayne Township Public Schools (WTPS). Unified Sports places kids with and without intellectual disabilities together on sports teams. This promotes social integration and skill development for students of all ability levels. WTPS has Unified Sports teams for basketball, track and field, bowling, and e-sports.
The Turkey Trot 5K for WTPS Unified Sports will take place on Saturday, November 15, starting at 9:00 am.
