As the housing market recovers, town houses are becoming more popular, according to an April 26, 2015 news article on NorthJersey.com.
Rental construction is still more attractive to many people than building single-family houses or town homes, but the latter are a good option for first-time buyers, as well as older people seeking to downsize after children leave home. In addition, it is often easier to find financing for town homes, which are often more affordable than single-family dwellings.
In northern New Jersey, town homes are more suitable for the type of development now taking place. The single-family subdivisions that made up the suburbs in the past are giving way to what is called “infill construction”, in which an effort is made to make the area pedestrian-friendly, and make room for public transit options.
In Northvale, John Mavroudis, who has been developing projects in Bergen County for 30 years, is building Rio Vista Greens, a town house and condo project. The units are available only to buyers age 50 and older, and the prices start at $549,000. According to Donna Scuderi, a sales agent, this is a reasonable price for the area, and should appeal to those who are downsizing.
When Rio Vista is nearing completion, the developer could work with brochure printers on a booklet to be made available to realtors for presentation to their clients, describing the project and its amenities.
