What's Happening in Northvale, NJ…

Summer leadership week on offer to Northvale teens

Registration for Bergen Volunteers’ Teen LEADS program is open now.

The program is designed to help high school students explore career and leadership options while building their skills. Activities will include guest speakers, creative assignments, interactive learning and career information sessions. Participants will develop their communication and teamwork abilities and learn about job opportunities in education, healthcare and other fields. They will also hear about volunteer opportunities in Bergen County that they can do both now and in the future.

Participants will meet at a different site each day, including Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and Bergen County Zoo, and are responsible for their own transportation. Organizations often use graphic design services to create digital ads and materials for their programs.

The program fee is $300 per person. Some scholarships are available. The program is open to students in Bergen County, including in Northvale and neighboring towns, who will be entering ninth through 12th grades in the fall. Teens can email lhallinan@bergenvolunteers.org to ask about the scholarship application process. Session 1 is now full, but space is available in Session 2. Those planning to participate can sign up on Bergen Volunteers’ website.

The first session of the Teen LEADS program will be from August 11 to 15, and the second session will be from August 18 to 22 from 9 am to 2 pm.
