One of rap's biggest stars and most popular figures will be in the Northvale area soon.
Snoop Dogg is bringing his “I Wanna Thank Me” Tour to Montclair, an easy drive from Northvale, for one performance only.
Snoop Dogg is a native of Long Beach, California, and was discovered by the legendary Dr. Dre, who featured Snoop Dogg on his song “Deep Cover,” and then again on his solo album, “The Chronic.” Snoop released his debut album, “Doggystyle,” in 1993, and the excitement he had created by his work on “The Chronic” enabled his effort to debut at number one, on both the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Billboard 200 charts. “Doggystyle” sold almost one million Copies during the first week it was available, and in 1994, was certified as quadruple platinum.
From that beginning, Snoop Dogg has gone on to sell more than 23 million albums just in the United States, and about 35 million albums throughout the world. A review of a recent concert said that the performance was exactly what one would expect from Snoop, and was great fun, full of hits past and present, some pleasant surprises, and entirely too short.
Snoop Dogg will appear on January 23, at 7:00 pm, at the Wellmont Theater on Seymour Street in Montclair. Poster printing is often used when events such as this are scheduled, as fans enjoy have mementos of the evening.
