Radio station brings hip-hop supershow to Northvale area

The Hot 97 Summer Jam, one of New Jersey’s biggest summer music events, will return this August with a concert featuring some of hip-hop’s hottest artists.

The performances will be divided into two stages. The indoor Stadium Stage will feature established stars like Meek Mill, Migos, and DaBaby, with A Boogie closing out the one-day festival. The outdoor Festival Stage will feature up-and-coming artists including Young Devyn, Coi Leray, and Rosenberg Real Late, with a host of guest stars. Festivals like this, typically promoted through colorful poster printing and local radio advertisements, can offer vital exposure to rising stars and local artists.

Billing itself as the longest-running and biggest hip-hop concert, the Summer Jam has been running since 1994 and has featured a “who’s who” of rap over the years. It was canceled in 2020 due to social distancing rules but is set to make a full return next month. The festival was created by Hot 97, the New York area’s first station dedicated to hip-hop, and was inspired by similar events held by San Francisco’s KMEL and Los Angeles’ KKBT. Held in East Rutherford, the Summer Jam aims to bring in music lovers from New York, as well as surrounding New Jersey areas like Northvale and Newark.

The 2021 edition of the Hot 97 Summer Jam will take place at MetLife Stadium on August 22.
