Legendary singer-songwriter Paul Anka is on tour, and will be in the Northvale area this week.
His concert, ‘Paul Anka: Celebrating 60 Years of Hits—His Way’, takes place tomorrow in the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, about nine miles from Northvale.
Most people can probably name some of Anka's biggest hits, like ‘Lonely Boy’ and ‘Put Your Head on My Shoulder’. What they may not know is that he also wrote some of the biggest hits other people had, including Frank Sinatra's smash ‘My Way’. Among some 900 songs penned by Anka are ‘Teddy’, (which he wrote for Connie Francis) ‘It Doesn't Matter Any More’ (Buddy Holly), ‘Puppy Love’ (Donny Osmond), and the Tom Jones favorite ‘She's a Lady’.
Anka, a native of Ottawa, has been in the music industry for 50 years, and recently released two albums – ‘Rock Swings’ and ‘Classic Songs’. On the latter, other artists such as Jon Bon Jovi and Michael Bublé join Anka to perform some of his biggest hits.
Paul Anka's concert is scheduled for tomorrow night, September 27, at 8:00 pm. The Bergen Performing Arts Center is on Englewood's North Van Brunt Street.
Fans enjoy collecting memorabilia of their favorite performers, so in addition to programs, organizers can work with a poster printing company to help advertise major concerts. These can also be sold as mementos.
