Six towns in the Northern Valley elected school board members, all of whom ran in uncontested races and won easily, according to an article on North Jersey.com.
In Northvale, voters returned incumbent Margaret Peg DeGennaro to the board after she got 550 votes on November 8, 2016.
DeGennaro has lived in Northvale for almost 20 years, and based her campaign for reelection on her determination to continue her support of what she calls the “excellent administration and staff of our school.” During her term, she has overseen renovations to the bathrooms, classrooms, an all-purpose room, and the school gym. She was also instrumental in creating a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) lab to help prepare students for careers in science. STEM subjects are becoming increasingly important in educational systems throughout the nation, and DeGennaro said she was proud of what she had accomplished during her term with the school board.
In 2016, DeGennaro served on three committees: finance, legislative/policy, and instructional/personnel. During her campaign, DeGennaro said that she was seeking reelection in order to continue her support of the initiative she had helped to put in place, and also pledged to maintain the school’s allegiance to Northvale taxpayers.
Organizations such as this could benefit by working with flyer printing companies, which can create detailed materials explaining operational considerations, and what is being done to solve problems and prepare students for the future.
