Northvale library to offer coding class

Northvale Public Library will offer a coding class for children and young teens this April.

Joseph Seo will teach a Kids Who Code class on three different dates in April. The class will focus on the coding language JavaScript and will use Replit.com as a teaching tool. This is a free platform for coding projects that requires minimal setup.

The Monday afternoon classes are designed mainly for kids ages 9 to 13, but younger children with an interest in coding and some familiarity with the topic are welcome to attend as well. The library will provide laptops for course participants, but they can bring their own if they prefer.

Classes will focus on using coding to create shapes and animations, and the session will end with a contest for the best animation work. Those who enjoy digital animation may be interested in picking up some skills like Logo Design in the future.

Kids Who Code is a free class, but registration in advance is required. Those interested can register online on the Bergen County Cooperative Library System’s event calendar page, which includes details about this and other educational events available for library patrons.

The workshop will be offered on Mondays April 4, 11, and 18, from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, in the Northvale Public Library Front Community Meeting Room.
