Northvale group to host teen leadership training

Bergen County’s Teen LEADS program is holding a Summer Intensive session for high school students this summer.

Teen LEADS teaches students about public policy and how their local government works. Participants delve into specific issues affecting their communities and discuss problem-solving strategies with one another. The Summer Intensive program is designed to help participants develop their leadership skills, increase their confidence, build community, and become more civically engaged.

The Summer Intensive includes two sessions. Participants can sign up for either or both weeks. Registration is available on the Bergen Volunteers website, and the cost is $195 per participant per week. The program is open to all high school students in Bergen County, including residents of Northvale. Volunteer organizations often use poster printing services to promote their events and programs. Adults interested in a similar experience can join College LEADS or Bergen LEADs. Details are available on the Bergen Volunteers website.

During the program, participants will hear from guest speakers who are CEOs, executive directors, and elected leaders. They will complete a group project, as well as educational activities intended to encourage hands-on development of their leadership skills.

Session 1 of the Summer Intensive will take place from Monday, August 7 to Thursday, August 10 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Session 2 will take place from Monday, August 14 to Thursday, August 17 at the same time.
