NorthJersey.com recently published a list of nine diners worth a visit for their world-class desserts, and a Northvale eatery made the cut.
The Northvale Classic Diner on Livingston Street serves a rainbow cake reaching six layers tall, with each layer a different, brilliant, rainbow color. Sweet buttercream is sandwiched between the layers, and covers the cake as well. The whole concoction is topped, naturally, with rainbow sprinkles. The cake is a favorite of anyone who likes rainbows, cakes, or a combination of the two.
The Northvale Classic Diner opened in 1981, and is family run. It uses the motto “Comforting, yet sophisticated” to describe its food, meaning diners will find their favorite comfort foods on the menu, but dishes for more sophisticated palettes are also available. The diner strives to make its meals healthy as well as flavorful, and uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. All desserts are made from scratch in-house.
Other eating places the list include the Blue Swan Diner in Ocean Township, which serves a vanilla ice cream sundae topped with baklava; the Big Fat Chocolate Cake from the Chit Chat Diner's locations in Hackensack and West Orange; a banana split cake from the Mastoris Diner in Bordentown; and the Cookie Dough Wild Shake at the Sparta Classic Diner in Sparta.
