Two New Jersey companies, including one in Northvale, won tax breaks from the state of New Jersey recently.
The Economic Development Authority (EDA) awarded RAB Lighting a tax incentive of $24.5m if the company will renovate and expand its Northvale facility, which comprises a factory and the company headquarters. RAB Lighting has been thinking of moving to Orangeburg, New York.
The second New Jersey company to win tax breaks from EDA is Accurate Box of Paterson.
RAB Lighting’s CEO, Ross Barna, says the company needs to expand because business has increased, thanks mainly to an increase in sales of LED light fixtures, which are used by residential, commercial, and industrial consumers. The company is 63 years old and is headquartered in Northvale. It has 318 employees in the state, including nearly 100 it has hired to date this year.
Barna says RAB has run out of room and needs to expand both its warehouse and factory. The firm currently occupies space totaling about 200,000 square feet in four buildings, but the tax incentive would enable it to expand to 364,000 square feet, while remaining in Northvale. RAB plans to invest approximately $18m in the expansion, which would result in adding another 181 jobs.
RAB could plan on working with a business card printing company to make sure the new employees have attractive, accurate Business Cards for their use.
