Northvale area historical group to celebrate spring
The Bergen County Historical Society (BCHS) is hosting an informative spring festival this May.
The group will be celebrating Pinkster, a Jersey Dutch Celebration of Spring. Denise Piccino will lead the Tricorne Dance Ensemble in two Maypole dances at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Children will be invited to join the dances. The Tricorne Dance Ensemble will also perform throughout the afternoon with live music. Light refreshments like donuts and lemonade will be available for purchase.
Independent scholar Marty Campanelli will give a lecture on needlework samplers in the Steuben House at 2:30 pm. There will also be an exhibit featuring several of these samplers and a lacemaking demonstration. BCHS interpreters will demonstrate egg-dying methods using commonly grown vegetables from 18th-century gardens in the kitchen.
Tickets are available on the Historical Society’s website. The cost is $12.50 per adult and $7 per child or student aged 6 to 21. Tickets are free for BCHS members. The group includes history enthusiasts from Northvale and other towns in Bergen County. Parking is free, and the New Bridge Landing NJ Transit station is a short walk to the event location. Local organizations often use flyer printing services to promote their events.
The BCHS Pinkster celebration will take place on Sunday, May 18 from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm at Historic New Bridge Landing.
