Northvale area group to host wreath-making event

The Garden Club of Harrington Park is hosting its annual make-and-take holiday crafting activity this December.

The event is open to both Garden Club members and any residents of Harrington Park, as well as other nearby towns like Northvale. Attendees will learn how to use greenery to make a wreath or centerpiece.

Gerri Gibney, the Garden Club president, will lead the event, demonstrating how to make the evergreen decorations. The Garden Club will provide fresh greens, floral foam, and plastic containers that will structure the centerpieces. Attendees who would like to make a wreath should bring their own wire to structure the piece. Three wire coat hangers are a good option. All attendees should bring pruning shears and gardening gloves. They can also bring extra greens, ribbons, and any other decorations they would like to add to their pieces – participants are encouraged to be creative.

The event is free to attend, but advance registration is required. Call 201-768-2615 or email themerchantmouse@aol.com to sign up or ask any specific questions. Non-members are asked to make a donation to the Garden Club to cover the cost of their materials. Clubs often use flyer printing services to promote this type of event.

The “Make It and Take It” Holiday Workshop will take place next Thursday, December 1, at 7:30 pm at Harrington Park Library.
