Northvale area gala to honor JDRF supporter

In Northvale’s neighboring borough of Rockleigh, a Bergen County man will be honored in a celebration slated for early May.

Mahwah resident Doug Albregts has been named ‘Man of the Year’ of the Northern New Jersey and Rockland County chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Albregts was chosen for the honor because he has backed the organization for many years, and encouraged his company employees, as well as those he knows in other corporations, to join him with their support.

The celebration is known as the Dream Gala, and this is its 12th year. It will be held at the Rockleigh Country Club at 26 Paris Avenue in Rockleigh.

Beginning with a cocktail reception, guests can enjoy dinner and dancing at the gala, where black-tie is optional. Harry Cicma, the NBC sports anchor, will be the emcee. Among the other dignitaries are former New Jersey governor Brendan Byrne and Mrs. Byrne, who are co-chairs of the event.

Aside from recognizing key contributors, the gala is also set up to make sure everyone knows that diabetes can affect people of all ages. Gala organizers could work with a poster printing company to create attractive displays to place in windows throughout Northvale and Rockleigh. It will take place on May 3, beginning at 6:30 pm and wrapping up at midnight.
