Motor Vehicle Commission coming to Northvale residents

Northvale, New Jersey residents who may have trouble getting to the licensing agency can relax, as the Motor Vehicle Commission is coming to them.

The “agency on wheels,” as the Mobile Units are called, has a number of services available. Drivers may renew their licenses, obtain duplicates, and change the name and/or address on their licenses. They may also mark the selection that designates them as organ donors, add a designation as a veteran, add a boat, and register to vote.

Residents can also apply for non-driver identification cards, which can be used to serve as either a primary form of personal identification, or as a secondary identification.

When it comes to vehicle registration, drivers may visit the Mobile Units to renew their registration, or obtain a duplicate of the original. The units will also accept surrendered license plates.

Drivers who want a specific placard – such as a Disabled Veteran, Purple Heart Veteran, or a disability – may obtain them.

Finally, drivers can apply for a permit to take a written examination that tests their knowledge of the law. However, only the permit is available at the unit; the test itself is not given at the mobile agency. Flyer printing can be used to list services available at events like this.

The Mobile Units will be at the Northvale Borough Hall on Paris Avenue from 10: 00 am until 2:00 pm on next Thursday, September 12. They are wheelchair accessible.
