Buddy Guy will in Englewood soon, bringing Jonny Lang. Buddy Guy was born in Louisiana but moved to Chicago, and is now synonymous with Chicago blues, a style developed in the Windy City, but influenced by Delta blues.
In 1969, Guy appeared on stage at a “Supershow” that included names like Stephen Sills, Led Zeppelin, and Eric Clapton. Clapton is one of the guitarists influenced by Guy; others include Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, and Keith Richards.
Rolling Stone magazine ranked Guy 23rd on its list of “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,” and he continues to draw crowds. A review of Guy in concert says:
“Halfway through his first tune, he had displayed enough virtuosity to establish that he is the messiah of guitarists, one that younger musicians mimic as they become his disciples.”
Jonny Lang is from North Dakota, and is a rock, gospel, and blues singer who is also a guitarist and songwriter. Five albums of Lang's have made it into the top 50 on the Billboard 200 chart, and his album “Turn Around” won him a Grammy.
One review said:
“The takeaway is outstanding musicianship and a virtuoso guitarist with plenty of soul.”
Buddy Guy and Jonny Lang will perform at 8:00 pm on July 21, at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood. Brochure printing can be used to create programs for people attending events like this.
