Gloria Reuben will be at Books & Greetings, a local, independent bookstore, to discuss her work, “My Brothers' Keeper.” Sharp-eyed readers will understand, from the use of the plural possessive apostrophe, that the work is about more than one brother.
Reuben lost her younger brother, David, just before he turned 22. Twenty years later, she lost her oldest brother, Denis, just before he would have turned 60. Reuben says it had taken her decades to come to terms with losing David, just in time to lose Denis. The book describes Reuben's life in terms of her relationship with her brothers.
A review says the work is:
“Beautifully crafted, Reuben must confront the endless questions of 'why' and 'what ifs' . . .”
Books & Greetings reminds attendees they need a ticket for the event, and that they must purchase the book at the store, not online, in order to attend. When the attendee purchases the book, they will be given a ticket with a number, which indicates their place in the line for the book signing. Poster printing is an effective way to disseminate information at events like this.
At the time of writing, the event is scheduled for May 7, at 7:00 pm. People who are interested in attending the event should check with the venue to see if any changes are made to the schedule.
