Rutgers University‒Newark will be kicking off its ‘DeStress Fest’ this week to help students cope with feelings of stress and anxiety during final exams. Many of the activities are designed to reduce stress and promote moral and emotional support.
There will be extended hours at the library and athletic center on campus, a study lounge open around the clock, relaxation stations, massages, free snacks, and yoga. Both residential and commuter students are partaking in these offerings and are provided at no charge.
One of the activities of the DeStress Fest will be free PB&J party in the Stonsby Commons Lounge on Thursday, December 18 at 9:00 pm, where students can take a study break and enjoy free peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and other snacks.
Pet Therapy will also be provided on Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 pm at University Square and on Tuesday December 16 at 7:00 pm, where students can share their stress with their furry friends.
A yoga class will be held on Friday, December 12 from noon until 1:00 pm at the PRCC Dance Studio, and a belly dancing class will be held Friday, December 19 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the same venue.
Those campus offices which are sponsoring this DeStress Fest may have used local printing services to create a flyer, which has most likely been posted around campus informing students of the specific events and activities.
