The Neighbors Helping Neighborhoods (NHN) grant program will be awarding $45,000 to 10 projects in the Lower Broadway, Fairmount Heights, and Upper Clinton Hill neighborhoods of Newark.
The NHN program invests in ideas driven by the community that strengthen local leadership and improve neighborhoods, and places its resources directly in the hands of the residents of Newark. A committee of neighborhood residents selected the grant recipients to ensure that funding decisions reflect lived experiences, local priorities, and a deep understanding of the needs of the community. Residents are at the center of the decision-making process, as NHN believes that those who live in a neighborhood are the ones who should determine its future.
The portfolio for 2026 showcases a broad mix of resident driven projects supporting youth development, food security, environmental care, mental wellness, arts education, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. Programs in Clinton Hill will focus on youth leadership, wellness, family support, and neighborhood stewardship while initiatives in Lowe Broadway emphasize sustainability, arts education, and community storytelling. Fairmount Heights programs support basic needs, mental wellness for girls, and STEM learning.
