Hospital in Newark expands emergency services

The emergency medical services from the town of Harrison have been assumed by Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark.

This expands the reach of the hospital across the Passaic River into the community of Hudson County and ensures uninterrupted 911 coverage. It also aligns the EMS operations of Harrison with an award-winning and nationally recognized hospital.

CEO of Sant Michael’s, Alan Sickles, MD, expressed his honor in taking on this important responsibility. He said that by managing the ambulance operations of Harrison, the hospital is expanding its commitment to delivering high-quality and compassionate healthcare and strengthening the continuum of care, right from the initial emergency call through treatment at the hospital.

Mayor James A. Fife said that this partnership strengthens insurances for everyone in Harrison. He added that Saint Michael’s is truly committed to the town and brings proven clinical excellence and deep experience to the community, and reassured residents that they will receive exceptional care.

Saint Michael’s recently received an A for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group for the fourth period in a row. It also is the only hospital in Essex and Hudson counties to receive a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
