What's Happening in Newark, NJ…

Newark embarks on hospital redevelopment

A groundbreaking ceremony by the state, Rutgers Health University Hospital is set to start a multi-phase development of the hospital in Newark.

The hospital has 500 beds and is the only public medical center in New Jersey. It is also the only Level I Trauma Center designated for the northern part of the state.

The development will take place on the western side of the campus of Rutgers Health University Hospital. It will take place over a period of nine years and will enable the hospital to upgrade the delivery of care in both existing and new buildings and support the development of the campus. Some existing structures will be demolished and replaced with new facilities, with the addition of a new University Hospital clinical tower.

The first phase of the project will be a major administrative and clinical outpatient building and will include modern multi-specialty and ambulatory care. There will be four floors in the administrative building. The ground floor will have 11,000 square feet of outpatient clinical space. There will also be a parking deck with 875 spaces.

A medical office building will also be constructed, the third floor of which will be an ambulatory surgery center that will connect to the planned clinical tower.

Such significant projects often rely on banner or flyer printing to inform residents of their benefits for a community.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in 2027.
