The Lincoln Park Cultural Coast District (LPCCP) will be holding its music festival in Newark at the end of the month for the ninth consecutive year, with several days of pre-festival events leading up to the concert.
It is likely the LPCCP is turning to poster printing to let those in Newark and the surrounding area learn of the numerous activities that will be taking place.
On Wednesday, July 23rd, a ‘Festival Kickoff Soiree’ – by invitation only – will take place with a special performance by Luke James and unique cocktails and refreshments. On Thursday, July 24th, the LPCCP is partnering with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center with an outdoor Sounds of the City concert featuring Red Baraat and the band’s founder and percussionist Sunny Jain.
Friday, July 25th is a day of fun for the entire family, starting with the Lunch Time Jazz Concert, where the NewArkestra Jazz Band will pay tribute to Amiri Baraka, who was a Poet Laureate of the State of New Jersey and supporter of the Lincoln Park Festival. The 10th annual Newark Idol competition is set to follow, presenting a talent competition of high school students inspired by the American Idol show.
The events for the weekend continue with House Music Day on Saturday, along with the Family Fair at Theatre Square, which will be chockfull of activities and performances for people of all ages. The Festival events culminate on Sunday with Hip Hop Day.
