The third annual Latino festival is coming to the community in the North Ward of Newark this month.
Headlining the festival will be Reggaeton star Tito el Bambino and Salsa singer Jerry Rivera. Jacqueline Quiles, Deputy Mayor of Newark, commented that this show will be free to the public and is held in the heart of the community. Quiles is an organizer of the festival and began it three years ago to bring together the various Latino cultures in the city.
Mayor Ras Baraka added that the Latino community is an important one in the city and is a growing population. The festival, said the Mayor, will highlight the artistic drive, musical culture, and sense of community that is a strong part of the city.
In addition to the music, there will be free public health screenings and details of city resources, and municipal IDs will be made available to those who need them.
The Spanish-language broadcasting company, Univision, which is the largest in the country, will also be at the festival and will help to promote the event. Flyers might be used and distributed throughout the community with information about the festival all that comes with it.
The festival will be held this Sunday, August 6 from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm along Bloomfield Ave. between Clifton Avenue and Lake Street.
