The Open Doors Citywide Arts Festival is coming to Newark this month.
It is an event that is free and open to the public, offering many creative programs and complimentary access to the numerous cultural institutions in Newark. It takes place over a period of five days later this month.
The Open Doors Opening Reception will be at the Newark Museum on Wednesday October 19 in the evening. Celebrating 15 years of the Festival, the reception will have Monica Montgomery, in her debut in Newark, as the keynote speaker.
A Launch Party and Vendors Fair will take place the next day in the evening at the Prudential Center Championship Plaza. Handcrafted items, food trucks, and live entertainment will be featured at this open-air vendors’ fair.
On Friday October 21 there will be the annual citywide Gallery Crawl. Over 40 venues will be open to attendees who can experience a range of arts from paintings to poetry, accompanied by live entertainment. A guided tour of the murals in downtown Newark will take place on Saturday, October 22, ending with a party at Redd’s Biergarten featuring special drink offers and complimentary snacks.
The Festival ends with an Open Studio Tour on Sunday, October 23, featuring the private studios of over 100 artists in the community.
Banners displayed around the city would be a good way to promote the Festival throughout the city.
