Newark to host event of peace

The second annual #24HrsOfPeace event will be hosted by Queen Latifah, a well-known recording artist and actress, in Newark this weekend.

The event is designed to engage the community through hip-hop culture and raise awareness about conflict resolution and non-violence.

There are expected to be close to 200 food and retail vendors, a town hall meeting, poetry sessions, a midnight movie, a hip-hop forum, and community resource information. Such events offer an ideal opportunity for using local printing services to provide more details.

Headline entertainers will be performing both days and include CL Smooth, Fabolous, and Faith Evans, with a special performance by Hakim Green, co-founder of the event, all taking place on Friday. Saturday will feature 2Rare, G Herbo, Fivio Foreign, and Rowdy Rebel, with local artists performing on both days.

Mayor of Newark, Ras Baraka, said the event is about more than movies, poetry, food, and entertainment. He said it offers access to important information and resources, time for residents to gather together and share solutions and ideas at a town hall, and enables them to join together and unify with a goal of a more peaceful city.

The event will run from this Friday, September 2 at 6:00 pm, through Saturday, September 3. It will be held on Springfield Avenue between Blum and Bergen Streets.
