The 41st annual Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival is coming to the Branch Brook Park in Newark this month.
The trees were a gift from Bamberger’s and were planted in 1920. County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo said that since then, they have helped to highlight Branch Brook Park its neighborhood benefits, unified the community, and enabled people to enjoy them in many ways.
The Cherry Blossom Challenge Annual Bike Race through the park will be this Saturday, April 8. There is a registration fee for runners, while those watching the race are admitted to the park for free.
The next day, April 9, is the Cherry Blossom 10K Run. A USATF-sanctioned race, some of the proceeds from the run will go towards special needs sport.
Saturday, April 22 is the One-Mile Fun Run and Walk, starting at 8:00 am, followed by the Essex County Family Day from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be activities for kids, a fishing derby, food for purchase, and live performances.
From Sunday, April 16 through Saturday, April 22, there will be guided 45-minute tours on a trolley through the park to see the cherry blossoms.
The Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs, which is sponsoring these events, might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to promote the festivities by means of Posters and Banners.
