Audible and the New Jersey Law and Education Empowerment Project (NJ LEEP) are undertaking a mentorship program to prepare middle and high school and college students in Greater Newark for their career paths.
Those who are part of NJ LEEP are low-income and first-generation college students, as well as their families. They are provided with mentorship resources and services to help them in exploring the skills they need for building their careers.
This past summer was the first phase of this program that paired high school college-bound students in the program with employees from Audible who matched their college majors and career interests. The employees mentored the students and will continue to support them with networking, professional advice, and other guidance as students get ready to enter the workforce.
During the upcoming phase in the fall, students from middle school that are part of NJ LEEP will take part in a workshop led by Audible that will explore career paths at Audible and help build critical thinking skills. Such workshops often employ local Print shops to create materials about such topics that students can take away with them.
Next summer, high school sophomores in NJ LEEP will then be part of an on-the-job virtual experience hosted by Audible. There will be several hands-on activities and students will meet with different groups of employees to learn about their career paths.
