Newark becomes home to new eateries

Several restaurants have recently opened in Newark and the nearby communities.

Newark’s Military Park is now the home to Burg. The primary feature of this restaurant is its handcrafted burgers made with a blend of meat from DeBragga and Spitler. Also on the menu are lamb, chicken, and seafood burgers, while the beverage menu includes cocktails, craft beer on tap, and wine.

There are also disco fries, double-decker grilled cheese sandwiches, and various salads. The restaurant’s unique dessert is a bag of doughnuts served with vanilla powder, mocha dust, and cinnamon sugar. Burg is open daily for lunch and dinner.

Also, Meat-A-Tarian has opened in nearby Montclair. It is a casual restaurant with a self-service counter and serves chicken, lamb, beef, and fried cod, along with falafel served on pita or platter, with a choice of hummus, fries, or various sauces. Chicken wings and salads are also served.

The Plum Bakery is another new option in Montclair, with products that are 100% gluten-free.

A fourth new local eatery is The Lakeside Restaurant and Bar, which has opened in Wayne and severs classic American and Italian fare at the edge of Packanack Lake. On the menu are basic Italian dishes, seafood, burgers, ribs, and steaks. There is also a children’s menu, an assortment of healthy dishes, and classic desserts.
