Film festival to come to Newark area

The Union County Performing Arts Center Hamilton Stage for the Performing Arts will be the host for the Third Annual International Film Festival in Rahway later this month.

Rahway is just a short distance from Newark, meaning that many from the city will want to attend this end-of-the-summer event.

The Rahway International Film Festival is designed to provide a place where artists from around the world can showcase works that educate, inspire equality, awareness, and empathy through film. As such, there is typically an equal number of number made by female and male filmmakers.

According to Gina Marie Rodriguez, Founder and Festival Director, the festival has been extended to three days so that feature length films can be shown in addition to the standard short films. There will be many opportunities for seasoned and emerging filmmakers and actors to network and learn from one another during the festival’s various parties and networking events, as well as during panels and seminars.

The Festival will be donating 10% of ticket sales to National Alliance for Mental Illness in Union County and Integrity House in Newark, as part of a new initiative to give back to charitable endeavors.

The Film Festival will take place from August 28 until August 30. The use of flyer printing companies to disseminate more information about the Festival can be a good way to bring to life the creative community in the Rahway area.
