Comic festival celebrating diversity comes back to Newark

The second annual Newark Culture Con (NCC), a free comic convention that celebrates inclusion and diversity in the comic book industry, is returning to Newark later this month.

The event includes workshops, contests, demonstrations, and panel discussions. Admission and parking are free. J.W. Cortes, who plays Detective Alvarez in ‘Gotham’ on Fox TV, and B.E.R., who is featured in ‘Teen Titans Go!’ on the Cartoon Network, are the celebrity guests.

There will be traditional comic con activities as well as more advanced green screen technology where attendees can transport themselves anywhere, enter a cosplay contest, take free cosplay photos, or do printing in 3D. Flyer printing can be used to Print a full list of activities and their times at such events.

Lincoln Farquharson, editor-in-chief of independent comic book publishing company, FarCorners Studios, developed the idea for NCC, and said that he chose Rutgers University as the location for the convention because of the cultural diversity of the university. Rutgers University-Newark and FarCorners Studios are producers of the conference with TaylorAdams Marketing and Drawlines as marketing partners.

NCC will run from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Saturday, April 27 and take place in the historic Hahne & Co. Building. NCC is also a featured event as part of the annual Rutgers Day for 2019 at Rutgers University-Newark.
