Bikers invited to enjoy Newarks crown jewel

The Cherry Blossom Bike Ride is fast approaching, giving participants the chance to see the renowned cherry blossoms in Newark’s Branch Brook Park.

The ride is hosted by the Brick City Bike Collective and is open to people of all abilities and ages. The route is about seven miles in length and is a leisurely ride, so that bikers can enjoy the park and its lakes and fountains, see some of the neighborhoods surrounding the park with their historic architecture, and see one of the largest displays of cherry blossoms outside of Japan.

There is no charge to participate in the ride, but as the trip can cover some rougher surfaces, riders are requested to bring bikes with heavier tires. There will be porta-potties and drinking fountains along the route.

The event is being organized by Ryan Reedal, who is Program Director of at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Newark Bike Exchange in Newark. A local Print company may have been called upon to provide promotional materials such as flyer and Posters.

The ride is scheduled to start at 2:00pm today (Saturday, April 18) beginning at the Prudential Lions, adjacent to the lake and across from the cathedral and fountains. For those who are planning to attend, organizers expect the ride to last for about two hours.
