Registration is now open for the Running with the Devils 5K Run and Wellness Walk.
The event will be held by RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH), which has teamed up with the New Jersey Devils, and will take place in October in both virtual and live formats.
The West Orange Essex County South Mountain Recreation Complex will be the location for the in-person run, while the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo will be the location for the in-person walk. Residents of Livingston may be interested in participating in either of these events.
The run will be a competitive USATF-certified 5K Course that will feature the South Mountain Recreation Complex and its scenic reservoir, starting at 7:30 am. The walk will be self-paced with registration available between 9:00 am and noon. Local Print shops are often hired to create maps of such courses and walks.
Proceeds from the walk and run will go towards supporting healthcare workers who have provided and continue to provide essential care to the community. There will be fundraising incentives given to specific fundraising benchmarks for individuals and teams; these will include merchandise signed by the New Jersey Devils, tickets to their games, and video conferences with alumni and players.
The in-person events will take place on Sunday, October 24, while the virtual format will enable participants to walk or run in their local communities between Friday, October 1 through Sunday, October 24.
