Monthly talk at Livingston public library salutes well-known actress

The third Senior Happening for the fall will be taking place at the Livingston Public Library later this month.

For this month’s presentation, Professor Diane Cypkin will be presenting a musical tribute to Molly Picon, who was famous in Yiddish theatre. She was an American actress and had roles in Yiddish film and theatre, including ‘Fiddler on the Roof’.

During the presentation, Cypkin will talk about the highlights of the life and career of Picon, interwoven with song. Cypkin will discuss Picon’s career in screen and stage and present songs that Picon made popular herself.

Funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, which partners with National Endowment for the Arts, and which the Essex County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs administers, help to make the monthly series of Senior Happening possible.

This event will take place on Friday, November 16. It begins at noon, where attendees bring a bag lunch and can socialize while volunteers from the Friends of the Library serve dessert and coffee. The entertainment and program begin at 1:00 pm.

Those who wish to attend the program need to register beforehand by phone, online, or in person at the library. Organizers of this sort of event often use flyer printing to inform the community of special talks and presentations.
