The township council of Livingston recently held its monthly meeting at which it discussed several cost-related and traffic matters.
Russell Jones, acting township manager, reported that a rubber section of the roof of the public library will need to be considered in the upcoming year. The cost is expected to be $400,000. The remainder of the roof will also need to be replaced in upcoming years at a cost of $795,000, and funds for this amount should be allocated.
There was also mention of a right-turn-only lane on Foxcroft Drive, which would cost $25,000. The concern regarding this matter was the location of the central office of the board of education on that street, and that it would have to be discussed with them.
The council members also supported a proposal by a resident who lives near the intersection of Chestnut Street and East Northfield Road to remove a tree at that location. This project would be part of the move to install a traffic signal there. The council is to talk with the county about sharing the costs for its removal.
The council also made a decision to leave Edgemere Road open to allow better access for emergency equipment.
The township council of Livingston might benefit from hiring a Print company to Print Flyers and other materials that can be distributed throughout the town to inform its residents of its actions and decisions.
