The updated Curriculum Guide of the Livingston Public Schools (LPS) will be unveiled this month.
The update will include two new courses to be offered at Livingston High School (LHS). Lisa Cappone-Steiger, Assistant Superintendent, said that although this year there will only be two new courses, there is still a great deal of discussion and brainstorming that is underway about the direction of all the departments at the school. Schools often look to local Print shops to create Flyers and other materials with more information about such courses so that students can have some guidance on what courses to take.
Theatre Arts 2 is one of the courses that will be offered next year. The course expands on concepts that were introduced in the Theatre Arts 1 course which was first offered in 2020. Natalie Topylko, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, said that the course will engage students in critiquing, performing, and collaborating theatrically and study the many theatre styles throughout history.
Advanced Science Research Methods is the other course that will be offered. This will be part of the science research pathway at the high school so that students can either have a valuable research experience at the school or take this course as part of the AP Capstone program. It will be able to be used to replace AP research as the course taken in the third year in the science research program.
