The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders recently honored the 3Engineers and the RoboRocks from the Livingston Robotics Club as competitors for the first time in the FIRST LEGO League Competition and for their hard work.
Patricia Sebold, a resident of Livingston and At-Large Freeholder, who was the sponsor for the commendations, presented the teams with citations and praised their great accomplishments. Shawn Klein, Mayor of Livingston, also attended the ceremony and congratulated the teams for their innovations and success.
Both teams competed in the FIRST LEGO League State Championship in Northern New Jersey against 60 teams, where the ages of the participants were between 9 and 14. Criteria for judging the competition included core values, project, and robot design.
The Livingston Robotics Club has also captured many recognitions during its busy 2016 season.
The “Judges Award” and the “Champions Award” were given to the 3Engineers in December when they competed in the FIRST LEGO League State Championship of North Jersey. At the First LEGO League Sparta Qualifying Tournament for 2016, they also won the “1st Place Robot Game Award”.
At the 2016 FIRST LEGO League Clifton Qualifying Tournament, the RoboRocks won the “1st Place Robot Game Award” and the “Core Values Award”.
