Livingston plans inclusive events

It is sometimes difficult to find activities that adults and children with disabilities can enjoy, but Livingston is looking to change that.

The Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities has planned programs and events coming up in October designed specifically for those with disabilities.

The Livingston Advisory Committee for Disabilities (LACD) is planning to restart its popular Arts and Crafts Program. The program, which is appropriate for people of all ages, is free of charge, and is held at Monmouth Court in Livingston.

The LACD’s sports program is also restarting. This is an after-school event limited to youngsters with special needs. The program takes place at Monmouth Court Community Center, and is free. Participants are not required to register, and siblings of children with special needs are welcome.

Finally, the LACD is teaming up with Senior Youth and Leisure Services to restart their Halloween Party. Guests will be provided with beverages and food, an arts and crafts program, and the chance to dance to music provided by a DJ. Costumes are encouraged but not required, although everyone is asked to bring a dessert.

The Art and Crafts Program begins Monday, October 2, from 5.00pm until 6.00pm. The sports program kicks off Wednesday, October 18, from 3.30pm until 4.30pm. Finally, the Halloween party is set for Saturday, October 28, from 11.00am until 12.30pm, at the Senior/Community Center on Hillside Avenue. When events like this are planned, organizers can promote them with Posters created by using poster printing.
