Historic home and gardens to host special May events

The Van Vleck House and Gardens in Montclair, a short distance from Livingston, will be holding two distinctive events this month.

The first will be an open-air classical concert with a brass quintet from the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. It will be on the south lawn of the property from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 10. Attendees are invited to come before the concert or stay afterwards and bring a picnic lunch. Reservations are not required, and it is free and open to the public.

The annual Roses to Rock Gardens tour will be held later in the month, on Friday May 29 and Saturday May 30. Tours of the house and gardens will be on both days from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, with a talk prior to the tours on Friday morning at 9:30 am by Joseph Lelinho, who is a beekeeper and the owner of Hilltop Honey.

The Van Vleck House and Gardens originated as a private home in 1868. The grounds have been developed over the years by the several generations of the Van Vleck family who lived on the property. In 1993, the house and grounds were gifted by the heirs to The Montclair Foundation, a nonprofit organization that created the Van Vleck Board of Management to oversee the property.

The Van Vleck House and Gardens most likely turned to a local Print company to print colorful Flyers about these events with more information about location and other details about these events.
