Fun and fundraising near Livingston

An upcoming event will teach people to line dance while they have fun and raise money for a great cause.

The Rho Gamma Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority is the host for the Line Dancing Day Party, which will be held at The Suite Spot at 24 1st Street in South Orange, a short distance from Livingston. The party will be raising money for the sorority’s Educational Advancement Fund, as well as providing scholarships for students at HBCU colleges and universities.

Tickets to the event include two drinks, a buffet dinner, and line dancing lessons from Najah and DJ Will Gee. Will Gee is a digital creator originally from Newark, who now lives in East Orange. He plays gigs throughout the region.

Rho Gamma Omega was created to extend the service area of Alpha Kappa Alpha to communities in New Jersey’s Essex County. After working for a year, the chapter was chartered in 1987.

Alpha Kappa Alpha, the “parent” organization was chartered in 1908 at Howard University, which is in Washington, D.C. It is the oldest “Greek” organization created by college-educated African American women.

The Line Dancing Day Party is set for Sunday, April 16 from 1pm until 5pm, and is limited to those 21 years of age and older. Events like this can benefit from having organizers use poster printing to create colorful advertising.
