Updates approved for grocery store in Jersey City

The grocery store of the Patel Brothers in Journal Square in Jersey City will be undergoing several upgrades in the upcoming months.

The Jersey City Planning Board approved the addition of a great deal of space to its sales floor, a restaurant, and expansion to more parcels of land. The store currently occupies the first floor of a complex on Newark Avenue reaching three stories high.

Daniel Vitenson, architect of the project from the R&D Design Group, said that there will be a new building that will be one and a half stories in height, with a mezzanine as the half story. Banner printing is important for announcing such updates to customers and the rest of the community.

Charles Harrington, the attorney for the developer, said that there will be two phases for the project. During the first phase, sections will be built for bulk goods and produce, and a checkout area with parts of the eastern wall reserved for frozen foods. Once that phase is concluded, Patel Brothers will move to the new building so that the second phase can be built on the original site.

The second phase will create a dairy section in the back of the store and add shelving for bulk goods and produce. There will be an entrance on the western side. Bathrooms for patrons and employees can be found on the mezzanine, as well as a bakery and bistro seating.
