Students able to complete criminal justice degree

An agreement will enable students who have graduated from HCCC to enter as fully matriculated students at NJCU as juniors.

New Jersey City University (NJCU) and Hudson County Community College (HCCC) in Jersey City signed an articulation agreement enabling students at HCCC with a degree in criminal justice to transfer up to 60 credits at NJCU towards earning a Bachelor of Science degree in that subject.

Students in the program need to complete 39 credits of courses in the criminal justice at NJCU in order to receive a bachelor’s degree. Students at HCCC will also have early access to financial aid counselors who can assist with providing information about scholarships and financial aid so they can complete a four-year degree. Often such information is provided with brochure printing so students have materials they can take away with them.

Dr. Chris Reber, president of HCCC, said that this agreement will provide a seamless pathway for students at the college to transfer their credits and complete a Bachelor of Science degree at NJCU. He added that it also reserves a place for these students in the program at NJCU. He expressed his excitement about being able to partner with NJCU and offer such opportunities for students to advance their education and prepare for careers that withstand the ebbs and flows of the economy.
