Race for breast cancer to be held in Jersey City

Jersey City will be hosting the Susan G. Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure 5K run/walk this weekend.

Proceeds from the event will go towards breast cancer and health programs in nine counties in North Jersey, and help fund research programs at a national level looking for the causes for this disease so that it can be cured.

The is the 12th consecutive year that the race has been held and is expected to draw close to 2,500 people. Banner printing companies can be hired to post more information about such races and their fundraising efforts.

Executive director of Komen North Jersey, Kelly Nagle, said that this annual race is more than just a run and a walk. It is a celebration of those who are fighting breast cancer and those who have succumbed to the disease. It is a way to bring hope to participants and others by raising funds. The organization expressed its gratitude to the mayor of Jersey City, Steven Fulop, the sponsors, and others who make the race possible.

In addition to the race, those who are fighting breast cancer, survivors, and their families will be able to enjoy a hot breakfast compliments of ShopRite, door prizes and giveaways, T-Shirts, and many other items and activities.

The run/walk will be held at Liberty State Park on Sunday, May 5, beginning with registration at 8:00 am.
