New Jersey City apartment building eases homelessness

The Bergenview Apartments are now open in Jersey City.

The apartments are on Bergen Avenue in what was once the historic YMCA building. It has 111 studio apartments designed specifically for those who have previously been homeless.

The units feature kitchens, private bathrooms, and energy-efficient appliances. Additional amenities are provided to create an engaging environment for all residents. Brochure printing can be employed to provide more information about such units for those in need.

Among the amenities at the apartments are a gym, a storage room for bicycles, and a special service and property management suite. There is also a community room with a ping pong and foosball table, a learning center, and a demonstration kitchen. The building has achieved certifications as an Enterprise Green Community and as an ENERGY STAR structure.

Mayor Steven M. Fulop said that these units, which have been newly renovated, provide people who once were homeless with a place they can call home, complete with its own bathroom and kitchen facilities. He expressed his thanks to the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA) and The Community Builders for their work on this project, in addition to the community resources and services provided on site that will help those who once were homeless to find a path for success in the future.
