The upcoming Communipaw Branch Library in Jersey City is set to be a next-generation facility.
Located on Johnston Avenue, the library will focus primarily on science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math (STEAM).
It will be the focal point for innovation within the system of the Jersey City Free Public Library, and will initiate programs that will be offered in other branches of the library’s network.
Once such libraries are operational, flyer printing can be used to highlight their programs and special services that will be offered.
Maisy Card, manager of the Communipaw Branch Library, expressed her excitement about working with residents of the community to build a new supportive and creative space in the area.
Card has been working in the libraries of New Jersey for the past 12 years. She has been a Teen Services Librarian at the Newark Public Library and a library media specialist for the Jersey City Public School district.
She attended Wesleyan University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies and English, Brooklyn College where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, and Rutgers University where she earned a Master of Library and Information Science. She is also an adjunct professor of writing and a novelist.
A date has yet to be set for the opening of the library's new branch.
