A collaborative exhibit examining the repurposing of the economic spine of the industrial history of Jersey City is currently being presented at the Hudson County Community College (HCCC).
The exhibit is being presented by the college’s Department of Cultural Affairs and was curated by Sean Gallagher and Rahid Cornejo. Banner printing can be used to display announcements of such exhibits throughout the college and surrounding community.
Collaborators on the exhibit included Rutgers University’s Master of Landscape Architecture program, the Architecture and Design Committee of the Jersey City Art Council, the College of Architecture and Design of the New Jersey Institute of Technology working with the Bergen Arches Preservation, and the Jersey City Reservoir Preservation Alliance and Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy. These groups worked over a four-month period of time to determine how the landscape of the area could be changed through community activism, networking, and collaboration.
The exhibit includes graphics on boards, physical models created by students and other types of work that show potential new programs and land uses for this corridor in Jersey City, which has long been abandoned and located in the center of the growing Jersey City urban environment.
The exhibit is at the Dineen Hill Gallery in the HCCC Gabert Library and runs until Thursday April 18. There will be a closing reception that day from 4:00 until 7:00 pm.
