Steven Fulop, mayor of Jersey City, has announced that parks and several farmers markets will be opening this month in the city.
The Paulus Hook Farmers Market will open tomorrow, May 9, to be followed on Monday May 11 with the Grove Street Farmers Market. The people in the booths and the farmers will handle all the produce and people will be able to walk from vendor to vendor. Such vendors can use poster printing to explain the rules and regulations regarding procedures for purchases of produce.
Fulop recommended that individuals come to the markets as representatives of their families. He added that a lot of nutritious food is available at these markets which are also one of the safest ways to get such food and go a long way in supporting the local economy.
Parks in the city that will also be re-opening will be Ercel Webb Park, Arlington Park, Mary Benson Park, and Columbia Park.
Along with Steve Sweeney, President of the New Jersey Senate, Fulop is asking that car dealerships, clothing stores, retailers at malls, and other businesses be allowed to open. He pointed out that social distancing can easily take place at such businesses so that people can get back to work and earn a living. He added that many are suffering and the economy needs these businesses to be opened.
