The application process for the Jersey City Summer Internship Program (JCSI) for 2020 is now open. This program enables high school students to work for pay at leading nonprofits and corporations in the city, with work-based learning opportunities also available.
Poster printing can be used throughout the area to inform students of such unique opportunities.
Students work four days a week and attend a career training seminar each Friday, at which they learn about topics that are applicable to their internships. The Jersey City and Hudson County School Districts give academic credit for these internships.
Steven M. Fulop, mayor of Jersey City, said that these internships offer on-the-job training and experience with professional networking so that students in the Jersey City schools can develop their workforce skills and be prepared for careers once they graduate from school. He added that this program has been successful in having given high quality summer internships at companies that are committed to helping the city’s youth to 406 public school students from the city.
To apply for the program, juniors from a public high school in Jersey City or the Hudson County Schools of Technology submit basic information, a report card, transcript, résumé, letter of recommendation, and three essays. Applications are due by March 1, after which representatives of participating organizations interview the students and notify them of their acceptance between May and June.
