Liberty Science Center (LSC) is planning to build SciTech Scity in Jersey City, thanks to a $1m donation by Bank of America.
The campus of SciTech Scity will span 30 acres, 12.5 of which are being donated by Jersey City, and will be an innovation campus for launching technology and science companies and fostering change in kindergarten through grade 12 science education. Such projects can be made known throughout the community with flyer printing.
The cost for the entire campus will be $280m and will have a coding lab, a biotech lab, a technology business incubator, and a school focused on science and technology education for Jersey City students. Curriculum will be developed at the school and will be able to be used around the world. It will also feature a scholars’ village with long- and short-term residences for those visiting or working at Scitech Scity, and will include the existing Liberty Science Center, which has the planetarium that is the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
President and CEO of LSC, Paul Hoffman, said that companies and people will come together as a community at SciTech Scity to create the future. He added that this is a unique project that is a collaborative effort of the city, LSC, and the visionary leadership of the mayor, Steven Fulop.
