Jersey City start-ups receive state funding

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) has announced the inaugural cohort of the New Jersey Innovation Fellows (NJIF) program.

Many Jersey City businesses will benefit from this program, including Quarks Advantage, My FitPlate, and Helloboss.

Quarks Advantage and My FitPlate will receive funds in the amount of $400,00,0 while Helloboss will receive grants totaling $350,000.

Quarks Advantage is a high-tech consulting firm that uses artificial intelligence to help small businesses achieve their goals. My FitPlate will use its funds to develop a mobile nutritional and fitness wellness application. Helloboss provides small businesses with a mobile marketing application to help them with a range of professional services.

Such businesses may use these funds to turn to local Print shops to help them promote their businesses with Flyers and other promotional items.

Mayor Steven Fulop said that Jersey City has become an incubator for fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. He added that it is encouraging that the state is supporting these new small business owners with grants and additional support services that will enable them to grow.

The program will provide a mentorship initiative designed to complement the financial support. The Rowan Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RCIE) or the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) will facilitate a comprehensive mentorship program in which each business is required to participate.

The NJEDA said that network support and mentorship can help prevent new businesses from failing and can elevate them to the next level.
